Meet the Staff

Dannie Williams, Lead Pastor

Pastor Dannie serves as Lead Pastor here at FBC Lyons. He and his wife Gwen have been married 45 years and have two children and six grandchildren. Gwen heads up the Women's Ministry which serves the women of the church, as well as many other women in Toombs and surrounding counties. Before beginning his ministry as pastor of FBC Lyons in 2002, Dannie served as World Missions Pastor, Associate Director of Church Planting for the State of Florida, and pastored churches in Texas and Florida. With hearts for the Kingdom, Dannie and Gwen are delighted to serve a loving, generous church that is set on fulfilling the great commission.

After pursuing a life long dream in law enforcement and becoming an Investigator for the State of Georgia, Mitch Bellflower was on top of the world and things could

not have been better. But, our amazing God had other plans for his life. In 2010 he was called to the ministry but not just any ministry…Children’s Ministry of all things.

He and his wife Kellie, of 28 years, have always been engaged in the children’s side of church from teaching Sunday school of all ages, going on mission trips to lead VBS, Kids Camps etc. but never on a full time level. After much prayer and asking

God for bold answer to the calling, (a story worth asking about) Mitch walked away from his dream career and said yes to full time ministry as the Children’s Pastor at Lyons First Baptist Church. He leads close to 120 children and an average of 40 faithful volunteers each week.

He has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Rochelle University, and is currently working on his Associate of Divinity in Biblical Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has lived in Vidalia for 48 years and has two children Brittany and Blaine.

Mitch’s sincere desire is to partner with parents in helping kids discover and embrace a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

In October 2020, Mitch Johnson moved to Lyons to join the FBC Lyons staff family as Youth Pastor. Prior to working at FBC Lyons, he had the honor of serving at three other churches – as a Discipleship Pastor, Young Adult Pastor, and as a Student Pastor. One common theme is apparent in every church Mitch has been a part of: He loves to create leaders with the goal that they will serve their family, church, and community.

Married to Brooke and a proud father to their two sons, Scout and Atlas. The Johnson family enjoys spending their time together – whether that means worshipping at church, taking walks down their dirt road, hunting, fishing, or simply staying and relaxing at home.

Mitch was called into full-time ministry at the age of 17. His formal Christian education includes a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Truett-McConnell College, a Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Mitch is passionate about seeing people understand the Bible because he knows that it holds every truth needed for this life! As believers, it is our mission to multiply ourselves and to make known the name of Jesus in our own community, country, and to the world! He wants to equip and see the people of FBC Lyons carry out this mission.
